Ruckomechi Camp

Ruckomechi Camp is on the boundary of Mana Pools National Park, which is home to an abundance of wildlife – including lion, wild dog, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, zebra, impala and elephant and a plethora of bird species.

The camp has ten spacious en-suite tented units, including a honeymoon suite, all of which overlook the Zambezi River. Each tent has both indoor and outdoor showers, while the camp’s outdoor ‘bath-with-a-view’ in a secluded, scenic spot is always a favourite.

The central dining, bar, library and lounge areas face the escarpment and are connected to the rest of the camp by low-level walkways. There is a separate deck with infinity pool for swimming and sunbathing, and an inviting, cushion-strewn star gazing deck.

Activities include wildlife viewing in open 4×4 vehicles, on motorised pontoon boats, on foot, in hides and in canoes. The best time to travel to Ruckomechi Camp is from April to November, but we advise staying at Mana Pools around October time when the rest of the surrounding area is dry and the animals flock to the river – a permanent water source.
