Pronounced kwah-lee-ah, qualia is located on the far north of Hamilton Island. A peaceful retreat with 60 elegant pavilions, nestled among 30 acres of tropical gardens, each with panoramic views of the ocean, surrounding islands or tropical bushland.

Timber, stone and glass have been creatively used and each pavilion has a private sundeck as well as a private garden area or infinity-edged plunge pool. Alternatively, the Beach House has its own 12-metre swimming pool and a guest pavilion. Spa qualia offer an extensive range of treatments and other facilities include two pools, and two exclusive restaurants offering fresh and innovative cuisine.

Why we like qualia

This is a world-class resort where everything has been meticulously considered in order to ensure that guests are fully relaxed and spoilt. The isolated location on the far north of the island is incredibly peaceful and the views from the guestrooms really are sublime meaning you may not want to go far, however if you do want to explore, guests are provided with their own two-seater golf buggy, allowing the rest of the Island to be discovered at a leisurely pace.

Activities

The beauty of a stay at qualia is the feeling of seclusion at the hotel, yet a short distance away are all the facilities and atmosphere of the Island, with a range of restaurants and beaches. That said, there is plenty to keep one busy at the hotel with activities including culinary classes, sunset cruises, diving, snorkelling, yoga, golf, kayaking and bushwalking. Staff at the hotel can pack a gourmet picnic for you and drop you off at a secluded beach for the day. Alternatively, a wonderful way to explore some of the 74 plus islands is to charter a boat for a day.

Location

Located on the secluded, northernmost tip of Hamilton Island, one of the Whitsunday islands. Reached by air or sea the island has its own airport which services direct flights from most of the country’s main airports. Another option is the ferry from Port Airlie or if money is no object, by private yacht or helicopter.
