Phum Baitang, meaning ‘green village’ showcases Cambodian architecture in the form of stilted villas set within acres of paddy fields. Just 15 minutes from the temples at Angkor, this lovely resort consists of 45 Khmer style houses scattered throughout tropical gardens, with views over rural Cambodia.

Each elegant villa has exposed rafters and cool interiors with a raised deck or even a private plunge pool. The 50-metre infinity pool overlooks the paddy fields and additional facilities include a spa and choice of restaurants.

Phum Baitang allows guests to experience Khmer hospitality at its best. The peaceful rural setting belies its proximity to ancient ruins and vibrant markets and the resort even has two resident water buffalo who help harvest the rice.

Activities

Easily reached by tuk-tuk are the temples of Angkor, Cambodia’s great lake – Tonle Sap and the local villages of Kompong Phluk. Take a walk in Phnom Kulen National Park or nearer to home Siem Reap’s oldest market, Phsar Chas. Play a round of golf or see the sites of Angkor by helicopter or on the back of a Vespa. Within the resort there are cookery workshops creating dishes from the paddy field to the table. Take a yoga class or head out on one of the resort’s bicycles.
