Why we like Pentillie Castle

A chance to stay in a bona fide castle with the option to fish for salmon, right on your doorstep. We love the DIY supper idea – find your tray in the kitchen, pop the main course you’ve ordered into the oven and wait for it to heat whilst you pour yourself a glass of wine, or two!

Activities

Pentillie is lucky to have the winding River Tamar bordering the estate. A superb salmon and trout river, it offers excellent sport for fly fishermen from 1st March to 14th October, when tuition and guides can be organised.

If fishing is not for you, other available activities include; river boat trips, 4×4 driving through the estate woodlands, horse-riding on the moors or golf at the internationally renowned St Mellion club nearby. From here you can visit Cornwall’s great gardens (discounted tickets available for some including the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project) or have a night out at Plymouth’s Theatre Royal and the spectacular outdoor Minack Theatre.

Facilities

The atmosphere here is more relaxed than a formal hotel – think more boutique B&B. Each room is individually decorated in attractive, muted tones with fine-art and antiques, and equipped to exceptionally high standards. Communal areas include a large comfortable drawing room with open fire and a games room with pool table, table tennis and board games.
