Sprawling over the rolling plains north of Mount Kenya, Lewa Safari Camp is charming and homely with an excellent reputation.
What first strikes you about the camp is the sense of space; the bar and dining area look out across the manicured lawns and pool, with expansive views across Lewa Downs. The large tented rooms sit under a permanent thatched roof and feature private en-suite bathrooms, main bedrooms with panoramic views of the bush and verandahs.
Lewa Safari Camp is very relaxed, allowing you to be as convivial or private as you like. The staff are happy to sit and chat or leave you in peace to enjoy the ambience of your surroundings. This unique and exclusive retreat offers privileged access to 65,000 acres of private protected wilderness.
With over 70 recorded mammal species within the conservancy, guests of Lewa are privy to the most spectacular wildlife viewing on offer. Lewa Wildlife Conservancy is home to the largest concentration of Grevy’s zebra in the world, over 200 black and white rhino and diverse birdlife. The camp has also played an active part in the excellent Lewa Wildlife Conservancy success story, now famous for its pioneering rhino breeding programme.
Journey across the plains in an open game drive vehicle designed for comfort and photography or on a bush walk where guides are trained wildlife rangers to learn about tracks and telltale signs of wildlife. Savour a bush breakfast in the middle of the plains surrounded by wildlife or indulge in the safari tradition of sundowners.
Lewa Wildlife Conservancy was registered as a rhino conservancy in 1983 and is now famous for its rhino and Grevy zebra breeding programmes. Lewa is home to 10% of Kenya’s rhino and 20% of the world’s population of Grevy zebra. The whole conservancy does extensive outreach work into the surrounding communities to share the benefits of wildlife.
Sprawling over the rolling plains north of Mount Kenya, Lewa Safari Camp is located in the world renowned Lewa Wildlife Conservancy.
