Facilities

A stay at Great Bear Lodge is all about the magical scenery and wildlife right on the doorstep. Although simple accommodation, the owners of the lodge have created a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere and additional lodge facilities include:

• A communal sitting area with a fireplace where natural history presentations are given by resident wildlife biologists and guests gather to chat over a glass of wine
• Wooden decked, seating area with panoramic views of the surrounding scenery
• Dining area serving delicious meals created using freshly caught and locally sourced ingredients (wherever possible)

Bear Viewing

Two bear viewing sessions are scheduled for guests each day, one in the morning and another in the afternoon. Sessions take place when the bears are at their most active and can be observed from hidden viewing platforms on land or from boats when the bears move from the river into the estuary. Each season offers a unique bear viewing experience and the area is a prime location for the salmon run in the autumn.
