The Fort Bazaar is a stunning boutique spa hotel in the heart of colonial Galle, offering peace and quiet, high-end service and gourmet modern dining. There is an atmospheric central thoroughfare and entrance which leads through to a handsome merchant’s home-turned-boutique hotel. With 18 stylish guestrooms and fresh, contemporary interiors, Fort Bazaar’s location is perfect for exploring Galle Fort.
As the sister property to the award-winning Wallawa Hotel, located just outside Colombo, the Fort Bazaar encapsulates everything one would expect from a boutique property of this calibre. Twinkling fairy lights brighten the central courtyard, warm smiles welcome visitors through its doors and delicious fresh food is served on sun-drenched terraces.
Fifteen luxuriously appointed Bazaar and Banyan bedrooms are located off a peaceful flagstone-tiled courtyard shaded by an age-old mango tree. Rooms offer king-sized four-poster Balinese beds, air conditioning, cable televisions, artisanal coffee machines and ensuite shower rooms.
The three Upper Suites are more decadent with lounge areas, dressing rooms, freestanding bathtubs and fort-view terraces. Families could opt for interconnecting Banyan or Bazaar Bedrooms or the split level Upper Family Suite.
Please note that a pool is planned but not yet open however the hotel has a lovely spa and convivial bar area which serves delicious cocktails. There is a daily, early evening happy hour which provides a relaxing and fun atmosphere to relax in after a day exploring.
Explore Galle, which is on the doorstep, travel by tuk-tuk for 15 minutes to the southern beaches of Thalpe and Unawatuna or venture deeper into the countryside for private tea estates.
The Fort Bazaar is found on historic Church Street, in the heart of Galle. Galle is a two-hour drive from Colombo.
