Activities

Masses of interesting maps and hand-drawn routes line the walls of the exploration area, from where the following days’ adventures can be planned in detail. A visit the market town of San Pedro de Atacama is a not-to-be-missed option after a busy day of activities, and the incredible experience of bathing in the property’s private pool at the Puritama Hot Springs is well-worth the hot hike.

Embark on guided hikes or volcano and crater ascents, saddle up for a horseback adventure across the arid plains, tackle a high mountain ascent or sit back for an afternoon of bird-watching. Truly impressive nightly star-gazing lectures take place at the observatory, and it is also possible to visit an archaeological site known for its cave paintings.

The circular layout of both the communal area and accommodations has been designed to best take advantage of the stillness and isolation of this area, while a dazzling set of varying temperature outdoor pools afford stunning views to Licancabur while being serviced by their own tended outdoor bar.

Horse Riding

Explora Atacama benefits from its own private stables, and each of its wonderful horses has been bred and trained on the family estate in the central valley of Chile. Head out on horseback in the guidance of an expert guide to walk, trot or canter across the arid desert.
