On the edge of Nagarhole National Park in Karnataka, Southern India, Evolve Back, Kabini (formerly Orange County) is a picturesque resort set by the beautiful Kabini river.
Each of the 30 huts come with a comfortable living room, bedroom and en suite bathroom, private courtyard and either a jacuzzi or plunge pool, all designed with understated elegance and luxury.
With superb naturalists on hand to guide you, a jeep or boat safari into Nagarhole National Park is an extremely memorable experience.
The best place to stay close to Nagarhole National Park. Wildlife sightings have been very successful including sightings of the elusive black leopard. Guests safari in an eight-seater jeep only available from Evolve Back Kabini, avoiding the larger cantors usually operating in the national park.
The eco-friendly accommodation has separate living areas with home from home comforts. Some have outdoor Jacuzzis while others have plunge pools. Highly recommended are the Pool Reserves, complete with heated pool and river-facing star beds.
The two restaurants are the Karuba Grill and the Honeycomb. Alternatively, a private dining experience can be arranged. Additional amenities include the Ayurvedic Centre, a reading sanctuary with unlimited coffee and books to hand. The infinity pool appears to merge with the Kabini river. Later in the day enjoy high tea from here and take time to watch the sun go down with a post-safari cocktail.
Children are well catered for with a swimming pool, slide and on-site activity centre. Please note wifi is intentionally limited in certain areas.
The focus of Evolve Back Kabini is the safari experience by boat and jeep. Accompanied by experienced naturalists, each guest an understanding of this fascinating ecosystem. The hotel invites each guest to be part of the vibrant social tapestry of the local Kadu Kuruba tribe. Visit the neighbouring village to experience the life of the local Kurubas who were originally hunter-gatherers. In addition, other activities are well worth exploring.
Evolve back actively walks the talk when it comes to sustainable tourism. They believe in renewable energy, no use of plastics and minimal water wastage. You will not even find a plastic pen on the entire property. There are no plastic bottles and the entire resort is managed in a completely eco-friendly manner.
They also integrate the local community into the smooth functioning of the resort so that everyone can benefit from this tourism model. They run and sponsor a local school in the nearby village. Every room also has a Reverse Osmosis system, a great green initiative to avoid plastic bottles and have unrestricted drinking water in the rooms.
Evolve Back, Kabini is located close to Nagarhole National Park, a two-hour drive from Mysore and a five-hour drive from Bangalore. A visit to Nagarhole combines well with a tour of Kerala and Karnataka.
