In an enchanting medieval village with two dozen inhabitants, surrounded by rolling Tuscan hills dotted with olive groves, cypress trees and vineyards near Montalcino, lies Castel Porrona Relais.

Set in lovely gardens, the hotel is made up of 25 rooms and suites as well as a private castle with a personal butler for exclusive use. In keeping with its 12th-century history, the décor of the hotel is lavish and grand, mixing rich colours with antique furniture and luxurious fabrics.

With a choice of swimming pools, a spa, a Tuscan cuisine restaurant and bespoke service this is a wonderful hideaway in the Tuscan countryside.

Activities

Relais Castel Porrona sits at the heart of a region rich in history and cultural heritage. Towns such as Siena, Florence, Montepulciano and Arezzo, with their monuments and famous museums, are just a short distance away. Small towns, off the main tourist trail, offer numerous cultural attractions and can be visited in peace and quiet.

For those feeling active, there are bike tours, trekking and horse riding in the area as well as yoga classes at the hotel. Alternatively, take part in a cookery class or some wine tasting.
