Why we like Canopy Camp

Canopy Camp is a rare thing in this remote part of the world – a comfortable eco-lodge. There can be few places in the world where one can wake up amidst such pristine rainforest to the sound of such a magical dawn chorus. This really is a birder’s paradise and the chance to truly get off the grid.

Facilities

Although a comfortable camp, a stay at Canopy Camp is not about the facilities or creature comforts, it is all about the magical wilderness surrounding you.

Communal dining is included in a stay here with a mixture of American and Panamanian cuisine served.

Activities

Many people staying here have come to experience the wonderful birdlife including the enigmatic harpy eagle, one of the world’s largest and most powerful birds of prey. Take a walk into the rainforest with one of the expert guides and immerse yourself in the rainforest. Alive with wildlife you can hope to see a plethora of birdlife including harpy and crested eagles who nest in the trees above the camp and smaller but no less colourful residents such as poison dart frogs as well as Colombian spider monkey, Baird’s tapir and jaguar.

It is also possible to visit Indigenous communities who live throughout the jungle and along the rivers of the Darien – these can be reached by piragua (dugout canoe).
