Campi ya Kanzi is an inspiring and eco-friendly safari lodge sitting in the foothills of the Chyulu Range.

Each of the eight tented rooms have hardwood floors, rustic four-poster beds, canvas roofs, 24-hour solar electricity and a raised wooden veranda overlooking the beautiful savannah. The camp’s main area houses a collection of artwork and antiques and a vast, stone deck affords spectacular views over the wilderness, with a fire pit perfectly positioned for pre-dinner and post-game-drive drinks.
Campi Ya Kanzi is translated as “camp of the hidden treasures” in Swahili and it is easy to see why. Journey across the savannah in search of wildlife in an open Land Rover during a game drive, discover smaller fauna and flora that are key to the ecosystem on a bush walk and visit the homes of the local Maasai to delve deeper into the culture. Other activities are on offer, such as horse riding, cave dinners, stargazing, a trip to Tsavo West National Park and scenic flights.
The Maasai Wilderness Conservation trust, founded by Luca and Antonella in 2000, works to protect the ecosystems and biodiversity of East Africa through conservation that directly benefits local Maasai communities. This pioneering partnership between professional conservationists and dynamic, young Maasai leaders shows the community that they can thrive, not just survive, by managing the ecosystem wisely.
Campi Ya Kanzi is located at the southern tip of the Chyulu Hills, within the greater Tsavo-Amboseli ecosystem. Access to the lodge is by light aircraft, flying directly to their private airstrip from Nairobi – these flights run seven days a week.
