Calala Island is a small private island of approximately four acres with just four beachfront suites. British owned this tiny, hidden atoll can be booked exclusively for a group of up to 10 or individually for a romantic holiday.

The charming and spacious suites are simply decorated using locally crafted furniture and each one offers complete privacy ensuring a haven to escape the world. The 25 staff aim to make the island home from home with exceptional but unobtrusive service and with facilities including a beautiful beachfront pool and spa, it is easy to while the days away.

Activities

A stay at Calala Island is all about relaxing and experiencing a hidden part of the Caribbean, away from the rest of the world. Swim or snorkel, take to a paddleboard or kayak, go fishing for the day, visit a neighbouring local town or just swing in a hammock. Around 100 metres from the main island sits Little Calala, a sandy spit of land, home to one umbrella – the perfect spot for a Robinson Crusoe style picnic.

Location

Located in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, off Nicaragua’s east coast. Included in the cost of a stay at Calala Island are internal flights from Managua to Bluefield’s, a journey time of approximately 50-minutes, before boarding a boat to journey through lagoons, canals, mangroves and open water to the island. Alternatively, blow the budget and fly directly to the island by helicopter from Managua, a journey time of approximately 85 minutes.
