Tailor-Made Holiday

Masai Mara Short Break

Weekend safari of wildlife and wide-open spaces

7 days

from £3,495pp

Say goodbye to work in the evening; arrive in the world-famous Masai Mara in time for coffee the next day. If time is short, this holiday is perfect. Wild open spaces, spectacular wildlife and effortless hospitality make this trip the ideal escape for indulgent nature lovers.

  • Spectacular wildlife safaris in the exclusive Mara North Conservancy
  • Head out on foot with a guide, exploring the camp’s private conservation area
  • Experience prolific big cat sightings and dramatic skies – offering superb photo opportunities
  • Stay at a perfectly positioned camp, beautifully appointed

The classic safari location, the Masai Mara provides a game-viewing experience that rivals all others. A short time in this magically wild and energetic landscape – bursting with a myriad of complex wildlife interactions – can deliver countless game encounters and fill the memory with images of elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, buffalos and more.

The domain of all that is wild and untamed, the Mara is also home to one of the greatest natural phenomena on Earth, the Great Migration. At times, a million wildebeests stream across these fertile plains, braving rivers and predators to travel in a never-ending circle of grazing, breeding and birthing.

Set out on expertly guided private game drives from the wildlife-focussed Serian Camp, where wildlife spotting is given priority over fixed schedules. Exclusively assigned, vehicles are drive by a highly trained guide, who is accompanied by an eagle-eyed spotter. The camp is located within the private Mara North Conservancy, offering the chance to drive off road, which greatly increases game-viewing opportunities.

Also spend time out, on foot, in the camp’s private conservation area. These bush walks provide a different safari experience, allowing a closer interaction with the natural environment and highlighting the smaller intricacies of the local ecosystem.

The Masai Mara is an iconic safari destination. Famous for countless wildlife documentaries, the wildlife viewing here remains the best in Africa. Over the course of a few days, it is possible to see almost every animal indigenous to the region, with notable highlights being the well-established prides of big cats and the annual migration of zebra and wildebeest, one of the world's most spectacular wildlife events.

There is always something to see and every month can offer spectacular wildlife drama - the open plains and endless skies are a photographer's dream.

Adjoining the Serengeti in Tanzania and forming the northern end of the great migration ecosystem, this is the traditional land of the Maasai people. A visit also offers a chance to encounter this nomadic tribe, who offer a fascinating cultural dimension to the area.

Everybody has an opinion on the Mara, but it remains the best place in Africa for consistently superb big game viewing and should not be missed.
