A little more about Southern Brazil
The Atlantic Coast, in this part of Southern Brazil, is surprising lush and tropical and is a very popular beach destination in the summer months. The long coastline is varied offering deserted beaches, great surfing, snorkelling and diving. Off the coast is where the Southern Right Whales come to breed and calf between June and November. Inland the Serra Geral mountains offer stunning scenery, lots of hiking and horse riding opportunities. This region was colonised by the Europeans and therefore the locals can be tall, blond and blue eyed and there are annual European style festivals, like the Blumenau Oktoberfest.
